David Sheldricks Elephant Orphanage, everything You Need to Know Before Visiting.


To visit the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust Elephant Orphanage in Nairobi, please note the following important details

🐘 Advance Reservation Required

Visits to the orphanage are strictly by advance booking. Reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance through the official Sheldrick Wildlife Trust website (Sheldrick Wildlife Trust). Walk-ins are not permitted.


📍 Location and Park Entry

The orphanage is located within Nairobi National Park. Therefore, visitors are required to pay the park’s entrance fee in addition to the orphanage donation.


💵 Entrance Fees

Sheldrick Wildlife Trust Donation:

  • Non-Residents: $20 per adult, $10 per child under 12
  • Kenyan Residents: KES 2,000 per adult, KES 1000 per child (proof of residency required)
  • Payment Method: Cash only; credit cards and mobile payments are not accepted.

Nairobi National Park Entry Fee (2025):

  • Non-Residents: $45 per adult, $35 per child
  • East African Citizens/Residents: KES 2,000 per adult, KES 1000 per child
  • Note: Entry fees are valid for one day and are subject to change; please verify current rates before your visit.

Visiting Hours

Public visits are scheduled daily from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, excluding December 25th. This one-hour session includes an opportunity to observe the elephants during their feeding and playtime, along with informative talks by the keepers.
